PRIVACY POLICY FOR TIIGIR
Last Updated: May 29, 2026
Welcome to Tiigir. We build culture focused on authentic peer-to-peer recognition. Because our platform is built on openness, visibility, and mutual appreciation, your professional profile and the recognition you receive are designed to be shared with your peers.
This Privacy Policy explains how Tiigir LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and secures your data when you use the Tiigir mobile and web applications (collectively, the "Service").
1. Data We Collect and How We Collect It
We collect information you provide directly, data synced from your device, and technical information generated automatically through your use of the Service.
A. Account & Identity Data
- Direct Registration: When you create an account, we collect your email address, full name, and password.
- Third-Party Authentication (OAuth): If you choose to sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and a unique third-party identifier to authenticate you.
- Verification Data: We collect your phone number for identity validation and to manage peer-to-peer connection invites.
B. Profile Data
- Professional Details: To establish your place in the network, we collect your job role, current employer, work history (including previous employers, roles, dates, and locations), and organization affiliations.
- Biographical Information: You may optionally choose to provide a professional biography, set your preferred language, and configure your local timezone.
- Coarse Geolocation Data: We collect and store coarse location data to verify your workplace location and connect you with local peer networks.
C. Professional Network & Recognition Data
- Peer Interactions: We store records of your connections, peer relationship designations, and group memberships.
- Recognition Tokens ("Stars"): The core of Tiigir involves giving and receiving public recognition. We collect and store records of the Stars you send and receive, alongside any accompanying recognition notes, public feedback, and endorsement text.
D. Communications
- In-App Messaging: We collect the contents, subjects, timestamps, and read statuses of direct and group messages sent between users on the platform.
E. Contacts Data (Device Integration)
- SMS & Network Invites: If you use our peer invitation tool, the app utilizes your device’s native contact picker. With your explicit permission, we access your device’s contacts list to read contact names and phone numbers.
- Non-User Records: This contact data is used solely to generate and deliver SMS and email invitations to join Tiigir. If you invite a peer who is not yet a user, we securely store a "pending invite" record containing their email or phone number to link your connection if they choose to sign up.
F. Device & Technical Data
- Push Notifications: We collect device tokens and push notification identifiers (including OneSignal player IDs) to route notifications to your device.
- Usage Logs: We automatically log your last active timestamp, browser or application user agent, and local client-side diagnostics to maintain application performance.
2. How We Use Your Data
We process your data to fulfill our contract with you, pursue legitimate business interests, or comply with legal requirements, specifically to:
- Operate the Recognition Network: Calculate leaderboards, update public member lists, display peer milestones, and power the core Star-sharing network.
- Facilitate Connections: Generate peer-to-peer connection suggestions based on shared employers, handle connection requests, and deliver user-initiated SMS and email invites.
- Send Communication: Deliver transactional alerts, notification digests, inactivity reminders, and updates regarding stars you have received.
- Optimize the Experience: Localize language settings, format times to your local timezone, and verify geographical workplace data.
3. Data Sharing, Network Visibility, and Third-Party Processors
Important Notice on Platform Visibility: Tiigir is designed to foster a visible culture of appreciation. By default, user profiles are visible to all authenticated users on the platform. Your name, job role, employer, organization memberships, and the Stars/recognition you receive are visible network-wide and will appear on searchable member lists and public platform leaderboards. Organization member lists are open and browsable by other authenticated users.
We share your data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our platform.
4. Push Notifications, SMS, and Email Communications
- Marketing & Digest Opt-Outs: You can opt out of non-transactional digest emails or platform reminders at any time by using the custom unsubscribe tokens and links included at the bottom of our emails, which immediately place your details on our communication suppression lists.
- Push Notifications: You can manage or revoke permission for push notifications directly through your mobile OS system settings.
- SMS Invites: SMS communications are explicitly user-driven. When you choose to invite a contact, you trigger a one-time invitation message.
5. Your Rights, Controls, and Data Retention
A. Privacy Controls
- Visibility Toggle: You can adjust your profile visibility settings between public and private states within your Account Settings to restrict how your profile appears to the broader network.
- Data Access and Updates: You can update your profile information, work history, and account settings directly through the application interface at any time.
B. Data Retention and Account Deletion
- Profile Deletion: You can request account deletion through your profile settings. Upon deletion, your personal identity markers (email, name, phone) are purged or anonymized.
- System Integrity & Disconnect Logs: To maintain leaderboard integrity and historical continuity for your peers, recognition Stars you have given or received, along with anonymized network connection logs, may remain active in a detached, unlinked format. Disconnect logs and system auditing data are retained securely to prevent fraud and ensure data consistency.
6. Security Framework
We implement strict administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to defend your data:
- Data Isolation: We utilize Row-Level Security (RLS) policies at the database layer to ensure that private communications and non-public data fields can only be read or written by authorized user accounts.
- Encryption Standard: All data is encrypted in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS) and encrypted at rest within our cloud environments.
- Password Safety: Your passwords are cryptographically hashed and never stored in plain text.
- Breach Notification: In the event of a data breach impacting your personal information, we commit to notifying affected users and relevant regulatory bodies within 72 hours of verification, in accordance with applicable statutory timelines.
7. Global Compliance & Legal Sections
A. Age Restrictions
Tiigir is designed strictly for professionals and corporate teams. The platform is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from individuals under the age of 16. If we discover an account belongs to an under-age individual, we will terminate it immediately.
B. Cookies and Local Storage
We utilize local storage keys and secure browser cookies strictly for essential technical functionality, such as keeping you authenticated across application sessions, remembering your timezone, and tracking local runtime diagnostics.
C. European Union (GDPR) Rights
If you reside within the European Economic Area (EEA), your legal bases for processing include contract performance and our legitimate interest in providing a professional networking platform. You have the right to request access to, rectification of, or erasure of your personal data, as well as data portability and processing restriction rights.
